Loose Change Announces First Writing Contest

Contest deadlines, awards and prizes announced

Attention writers, poets, persons of letters and literati:  Loose Change magazine, A Literary Magazine by WonderRoot, is excited to announce our first-ever writing contest series, awarding cash prizes in poetry, fiction and nonfiction. Contests will be judged by the Loose Change genre editors and our esteemed guest editors, composed of noted local writers representing each of the respective contest genres.

Funded by the success of our Power2Give fundraiser, all prize-winners will also be published in Loose Change magazine’s first print anthology, to debut in early 2014. The contest and awards are among the first initiatives launched under Loose Change’s plan for growth and expansion as it moves towards its first print anthology. Awarding writers with both prizes and print publication will connect more writers to the magazine, and turn more much-deserved attention to the winners and fellow published writers.

Grand-prize winners in each genre will be awarded $125, second-place winners will receive $75, and third-place winners, $50. Poetry contest submissions will be accepted through our current, Fall-issue, all-call deadline of August 15, 2013 (poetry already submitted for this cycle will also be considered).  Prose submissions will be accepted through November 15. Poetry contest winners will be featured in the Fall issue, while both Fiction and Non-Fiction winners will appear in the Winter issue.

All contest entries must be submitted online at www.loosechangemagazine.org/submit. Contest winners will be notified by email prior to publication.

Advance thanks and best of luck to all our submitters!
