Artists Form New Group Designed to Encourage Business Growth

Fayette and Coweta artists recently formed Fine Arts and Crafts Entrepreneurs (FAACE). The group focuses on the business of art.

The FAACE mission is to provide a forum for artists to develop their business and marketing strategies while also encouraging their talents and supporting local charities. The impetus for the group came out of a desire by the founders to better balance their creativity with business know-how.

Fine artists and fine crafters from all southern crescent counties are welcome to join FAACE. Speakers at the monthly meetings will include specialists in fields such as insurance, business development, web design and related. They also plan to invite gallery owners to share tips on getting into galleries, festival judges to explain what they look for when selecting entries or judging contests, and other experts in the field of arts promotion.

FAACE members are also members of other local arts groups and are active in their local communities.

“Our intention is to work in tandem and to hopefully collaborate with the many other great local art groups already in existence,” said Janet McGregor Dunn, FAACE Chair. “We hope our focus on the business of art will complement their efforts to assist artists in the Southern Crescent of Atlanta.”

To introduce themselves and their artistic talents, members and friends of FAACE will hold their first exhibit and sale, “Art With Heart,” February 5th at the Harvest Community Center in downtown Fayetteville.

Art With Heart will showcase fine arts and crafts by numerous local artists including paintings by Angela White, Pat Sams, and Carla Cook, sculptured watercolors by Patsy Gullet, pottery by Janet McGregor Dunn of Hummingbird Hollow Pottery, Andrea Boswell and other local potters, stained glass by Cathy Spitz, and mixed media fiber and quilt art by Claudia Wood of Rosewood Cottage Studio, Susan Norton (The Painted Thread), and Kathy Schultz.

The selection is sure to be the perfect mix of gifts for Valentine’s Day. The show will also benefit Christian City Children’s Village through donations at the door.
